I directed this short film in 2015 to announce the partnership between “Nathan Love”, my animation studio in New York, and Aardman Animations in the UK.
The story we wanted to tell was simple - two animation studios are coming together… Aardman represented by the star, and Nathan Love represented by the heart. Easy Peasy… But how!?
While thinking of an idea for the launch film, I looked down at my desk and found these Aardman stickers… The perfect, distilled representation of a classic, Aardman animation.
The idea, or question that came to mind was, “What would happen if Nathan Love took over the classic Aardman eyes & mouth? How far could we push it and what would it look like?” With help from the talented Mr Tim Probert, an exploration was underway, and the answer was discovered!
Of course, we needed more than just a bunch of wacky characters, so a story was developed based on my love/obsession with ancient aliens, pyramids and primal, tribal chants…
